Coats for Kids
Winter coats for low-income children.
The Napa Coats for Kids program, which gives new winter coats to families in early December, buys its stock for next season at year-end holiday sales. $20 typically buys one new, quality coat or heavy
sweater jacket.
The program, in its fifth year, is run by volunteers at the First Baptist Church, and invites families (referred to the program by schools and family centers) to a holiday feast; after dinner each family member selects a coat to take home. Nearly 600 children in need received coats this year; and, as in years past, demand outstripped supply.
